Riga /
Berlin (Jul 29th) – Air Baltic adds two western European hubs to its network.
Commencing at October 28th, the Latvian flag carrier will add Tallin
(TLL) – Paris (CDG) services with four rotations a week not serving the route
on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Two days later a service between the
Lithuanian capital Vilnius (VNO) and the Dutch airport of Amsterdam (AMS) will
also be added to BT’s schedule. No Air Baltic official answered the AU request for
statement or information on Tuesday.

Air Baltic
seems slowly but steadily to re-emerge from its deep crisis, after financial
aid from Abu Dhabi based Gulf airline Etihad helped to bridge financial
shortcomings. With the new route extensions Air Baltic sets itself once again
in competition with low fare competitors who have gained much ground in the
Baltics recently. Wizz Air has opened a
base at Riga (RIX) and airports like Kaunas, Vilnius and Tallin are
destinations for all major low cost carriers.
