Berlin - The heavy multipurpose helicopterAirbus H225M Super Cougar (Caracal) has passed the 100.000 flight hours mark in active service. As Airbus revealed in a press release Thursday, 88 machines in active service throughout the world had contributed to the achievement. Since the first H225M had been delivered to the French Air Force in 2006, the choppers saw deployment in Libanon, Afghanistan and throughout Africa.
Others users of the heavy multi purpose aircraft include the Brazilian and Thai Navies. Airbus Helicopters emphasised that the machine is working land- and ship-based. Besides transporting up to 28 troops the helicopters is used for a variety of missions, including Electronic Warfare, SAR and Anti-Submarine-Warfare. Meanwhile the Cougar community still grows. With Kazakhstan (20 orders), Singapore (16 orders) and Thailand (6 orders) the H225M will break the magic 100-machines-mark within the next 18 months.
